1st round of the wine evaluation competition of the Great Wines of Great Vineyards

The first season of the Great Wines of the Great Vineyards at Valtice Chateau is history. Although the traffic in the customer area of the wine shop died down on 14 December 2024, the backstage area is busy. We are intensively preparing for the new season 2025!

On Thursday, January 16th, the 1st round of the Great Wines of the Great Vineyards, Inc.’s Wine Appreciation Competition took place. Two seven-member committees composed of members of the association and invited tasters from the Union of Oenologists of the Czech Republic evaluated white wines. A total of 40 nominated samples from members and non-members of the association – of course dry wines up to 4 g/l residual sugar and at least 1 year after harvest, were judged on a 100-point scale according to the International Union of Oenologists with five-point steps in accordance with the statute. In the second round, the rest of the white wines and all the red wines will be assessed.

It is too early to publish the results, but after the first “white” round it can be said that you definitely have something to look forward to !!!
